Here's the truth I wish someone had told me sooner: the timing is never right, you're never fully ready, and courage shows up before confidence, not after. You start anyway. One step, then another.
You own your choices, your attitude, and your actions.
You do the right thing, even when it's hard or unpopular.
You value people, listen first, and lead with humility.
You look for ways to lift the people around you.
You build something that outlasts you.
I got helping hands on my way up, and I'm not interested in pulling the ladder up behind me. My wife and I built REVJLO to be the community's own nonprofit: you help with one cause, then you get your turn to lead one. Learn to do it well, then make it easier for the next person to follow. And if you need proof it's possible: I'm a first-generation kid from the RGV who was later featured among Hispanic leaders in Hispanic Stars Rising Vol. II. You can't be what you can't see. So see it.
